{"id":3088,"date":"2024-08-05T23:26:10","date_gmt":"2024-08-05T23:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.economicsandpeace.org\/?post_type=event&#038;p=3088"},"modified":"2024-09-16T23:13:47","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T23:13:47","slug":"exploring-intercultural-competences-in-an-african-context","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.economicsandpeace.org\/event\/exploring-intercultural-competences-in-an-african-context\/","title":{"rendered":"Exploring Intercultural Competences in an African Context"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competences hosted by Stellenbosch University is pleased to announce its inaugural Annual Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, at Strathmore University from&nbsp;<strong>14 to 15 October 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme of the Conference is&nbsp;<strong><em>Exploring Intercultural Competences in an African Context<\/em><\/strong>.<br>The conference, featuring a keynote from Milton Nyamadzawo, Southern Africa Director at the Institute for Economics and Peace, will have contributions from academics and researchers, professionals, practitioners, educators, innovators, leaders and organisations with an interest in the theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The specific sub themes are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How do aspects of Intercultural Competence intersect, interact and influence climate action, gender equality, or peacebuilding?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The existence and use of intercultural practices in pre-colonial times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intercultural tools available to the practitioner (for example; Cultural diversity and ethics; Ethical encounters and interactions; Culturally responsive teaching; Collaborative Online International (intercultural) Learning (COIL); tools for understanding values across multi-cultural and multi-religious societies)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to the theme and sub-themes above, we look forward to the sharing of research, reflections, lived experiences and examples from practice in the form of Parallel sessions, and Poster Presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that a side event will take place on 16 October, hosted by the Institute of Economics and Peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competences hosted by Stellenbosch University is pleased to announce its inaugural Annual Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, at Strathmore University from&nbsp;14 to 15 October 2024.
